Seldom is a Brazilian playing in the Bundesliga, a German football league. One such Brazilian is Breno Borges. Described by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as the signing “a signing for the future”. He joined Bayern Munich on January 1, 2008 for a 4 1/2 years contract. Bayern Munich paid £8.5million to Sao Paolo, Breno’s former club.
8.5 million pounds for a defender and a teenager is huge. Not even the seasoned defenders like Rio Ferdinand would be worth like that.
He is a member of the senior national team of Brazil that won the bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics. His presence in the recent Olympics added to his value.
This 18 year old indeed is an interesting prospect. Unfortunately defenders don’t get much attention unlike the forwards.
