If you often heard or read the word “diving” in soccer, it means a player easily falling after being slightly touched by another player during a football game.
Cheating players do it to get a chance to score through a penalty or freekick. Others do it so referees can hand a yellow or red card to the other player.
This form of cheating has put an ugly dent on the Beautiful Game.
Gilardino, apparently guilty of diving in a match against Celtic, and received a yellow card for it.
Gilardino is Italian, and Italians have been known for diving. One controversy they were into was in the 2006 World Cup semifinal against Australia. They won that game after an Italian player dived in the penalty box.
Brace means “two”.
It is used when a football player scored two goals in a single game.
So when you read an article about results of a football game or heard a football commentator blurt out “brace”, it simply means the footballer contributed “two goals” for his team.

Gennaro Gattuso was punished by UEFA for his unsportsmanlike behavior towards Tottenham’s Joe Jordan.
The incident occurred after the match between AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspurs.
Gattuso already apologized for his actions, “I lost my head and I’m taking responsibility because I did something I shouldn’t have done.”
Even after admitting, opposing fans still castigated and condemned the Italian midfielder. The blame is solely focused on him.
But unknown to many, it was Joe Jordan and his big mouth who started the whole incident. According to Gattuso’s agent, Jordan called his client “fucking Italian bastard”.
UEFA should look deeper about the whole thing.

“Being asked to manage Liverpool Football Club was a great privilege. I have, however, found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career. I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad.”
- Roy Hodgson, former Liverpool FC manager
If I am a club owner, I would not hire Rafael Benitez.
This fat Spaniard is utterly disrespectful to any football club owners or top executives.

Lately, he publicly challenged Inter president Massimo Moratti with his “sack me or back me” line.
Benitez is not new to this despicable behavior. He labeled former Liverpool owners Hicks and Gillet like someone who does not have any idea about football transfer. Those Americans maybe twats, but they still deserve respect.
He was rumored to become the future Real Madrid manager after his successful stint at Valencia and the Champions League victory with Liverpool. But I don’t think Benitez would fit in Madrid. His ego is too big, and his struggle to hold the transfer market management is against Real Madrid’s business model.
I may change my mind about hiring him, only if it’s included in the contract: “Rafael Benitez should not to speak to the media” and I would give him 300,000 pounds a week salary for it.
