Walcott picked ahead of Beckham

Theo Walcott is picked ahead of Beckham by England manager Fabio Capello in their next two games against Kazakhstan on Saturday and away to Belarus next Wednesday. Beckham is now relegated as a substitute to gave way to the young gunner.

“I think when you find young players like this, good players, interesting players at the top level he has to play with the seniors. Age is not important, what’s important is the quality, the confidence,” said the Italian.

“It’s a stupid example but Maradona played when he was 16. Because he was ready. Theo is ready for sure.”

Capello’s decision is just right. Beckham is now nearing the mid 30s, and i believe the 19 year old Walcott is mature enough to win games for England.
